The final days of the La Paz Founding anniversary celebrations will feature a full schedule of sporting, cultural, culinary and family-oriented events across the city from May 27 to 31.

The program includes a massive K-pop class, mystery storytelling sessions, rock concerts, choral performances, the traditional Coastal Half Marathon and a closing serenade in the Historic Center.

Mayra Cisneros, director of Inclusion and Diversity for the La Paz City Council, outlined the remaining activities planned as part of the city’s anniversary celebrations.

Festivities begin Wednesday, May 27, with a massive K-pop class at 6 p.m. at the El Piojillo Municipal Sports Center.

On Thursday, May 28, the same venue will host an evening of mystery, suspense and horror storytelling organized by the Directorate of Culture. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m.

One of the most anticipated events, “La Pazión por el Sabor” (“Passion for Flavor”), will take place Friday, May 29, at 6:30 p.m. in the El Mogote area.

In addition to showcasing regional cuisine, the event will feature live music and exhibitors from municipalities across Baja California Sur. “It’s the largest gastronomic event in the state in terms of participation, with attendees and exhibitors from across Baja California Sur,” Cisneros said.

Authorities recommend attendees arrive at the Fiscal Pier on the La Paz boardwalk starting at 5:30 p.m., where boats will transport visitors to El Mogote.

The celebration continues Saturday, May 30, with two major cultural events. The first is the “Spring Bastard” rock concert at 6 p.m. in Cuauhtémoc Park on Paseo Álvaro Obregón, across from the La Paz boardwalk. Eight local bands are scheduled to perform. Later that evening, at 6:30 p.m., the Juárez Theater will host a Choral Festival featuring eight groups and a guest choir from Mérida.

The festivities will conclude Sunday, May 31, with the 46th Mega Coastal Half Marathon and the traditional “Serenatas del Bermejo.”

The marathon, considered one of La Paz’s signature sporting events, will begin at 6:30 a.m. for adult categories, while children’s races start at 8:30 a.m.

Participant kits will be distributed Saturday, May 30 at the El Piojillo Municipal Sports Center from 4 to 8 p.m.

The closing serenade event will take place Sunday at Velasco Garden, located on Revolución de 1910 Street between 5 de Mayo and Francisco I. Madero streets. The gathering will feature live music and family-oriented activities.

The weeklong program marks the conclusion of the official La Paz Foundation Day celebrations, which have included sports, arts, culinary and recreational events throughout the city.
