German visitors have become some of the most valuable tourists for Baja California Sur, according to Rodrigo Esponda, director of FITURCA (the Los Cabos Tourism Board).
Arriving mainly via the Frankfurt-Los Cabos direct flight, they stay an average of 11 nights, twice as long as the typical visitor, generating a significantly higher economic impact. Their extended stays boost local consumption in hotels, restaurants, transportation, and tourism activities.
FITURCA data shows that 38% of German tourists earn between $45,000 and $100,000 annually, with 69% staying in 4- and 5-star hotels. Others opt for villas, apartments, or lodging with friends. Popular activities include nature exploration, pristine beaches, diving, hiking, and snorkeling.
While Los Cabos is their main destination, many also visit La Paz, Loreto, Todos Santos, Cabo Pulmo, San Antonio, El Triunfo, La Ventana, and surrounding protected natural areas.
Tourist satisfaction is high, 90% report positive experiences, citing safety, service, and hospitality. Additionally, 31% expressed interest in buying a second home in the region, signaling long-term ties.
The Frankfurt- Los Cabos flight will resume November 3 for its second season, further strengthening connectivity with Europe and reinforcing the arrival of high-spending travelers.
