Two men in a small boat rescued four children who were swept away by a strong current at La Empacadora Beach on Wednesday afternoon, July 30.
The group, ranging in age from 10 to 14, had been swimming when the current pulled them toward the marina entrance. Witnesses quickly alerted the nearby boaters, who responded immediately, steering their vessel to the struggling youngsters and helping them aboard within minutes.
Thanks to the swift response, all four children were brought to safety without injury.
In the wake of the incident, authorities advised the public to avoid entering the sea, stay off the beach, and suspend swimming, shore fishing, and boating in small craft until further notice.
The Mexican Navy later announced the cancellation of a tsunami alert issued earlier, after the Tsunami Warning Center reviewed sea levels along the coast. The Navy also urged residents and visitors to follow safety recommendations before entering the waters of Cabo San Lucas Bay.
The rescued minors thanked their rescuers before reuniting with their families.
