Are You Planning to Buy an Electric Car?

If so, charging it just got a whole lot easier

The Mexican company VEMO, a leader in clean mobility technologies, has taken a major step in expanding into the northwest region of the country by installing 12 new chargers for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

This rollout aims to reduce the challenges electric vehicle users face on long trips while encouraging sustainable tourism. Strategically located, the chargers now make it easier for drivers to confidently travel across the Baja California Peninsula, offering a real alternative for clean mobility.

This infrastructure expansion aligns with the growing wave of electromobility in Mexico. According to data from the Electromobility Association (EMA), sales of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles surged by 289.6% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.

The Baja California Government’s 2022–2027 State Energy Program includes plans to increase the number of charging stations as part of its broader strategy to promote electromobility in the region.

Collaboration is key to building a future of cleaner, more sustainable transportation.

With the latest additions, VEMO now operates in 16 states, offering more than 700 chargers and over 900 connectors nationwide.

The 12 new VEMO chargers are located at three public charging stations in key areas:

  • Alameda Otay (Tijuana): 3 chargers, each with a single connector
  • Mi Plaza La Paz (La Paz): 3 chargers, each with a single connector
  • Plaza Puerto Paraíso (Los Cabos): 6 chargers, each with a single connector

Together, these 12 connectors offer a total installed capacity of 230 kW. Users of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles can manage their charging needs via the “Watts by VEMO” app, which allows them to locate nearby stations, select the right connector for their vehicle, pay through the app, receive online support, and track their charging in real time.

Welcome to the new era of clean mobility.
