A Relief for Some of the Traffic Jams in La Paz

It was so needed

Forjadores and Agustín Olachea St. boulevards in La Paz will have new traffic lights.

One intersection will no longer operate as a four-way stop, while the other will have a traffic light for the first time, according to Mayor Milena Quiroga Romero. The measure aims to streamline vehicle traffic.

The new traffic light on Agustín Olachea Boulevard will be located at the entrance to the Cola de la Ballena shopping area.

Traffic accidents have been reported because many drivers ignore the four-way stop sign or make double turns.

“That four-way stop sign is a headache. Access to the stores stops us all, even if we’re not going to the stores; it doesn’t make any sense. And the traffic light has also been requested there to regulate traffic flow,” stated Mayor Milena Quiroga.

Regarding the Forjadores Boulevard one, it will be installed at the entrance to the Tabachines subdivision, at the intersection with Bahía Concepción Avenue.

The traffic lights are estimated to be installed in approximately two months, the time required to manufacture the structures.

“The suppliers gave a delivery time, especially because the structure has to be manufactured outside. They said two months. I hope it’s less, but I’m going to say two months,” explained Quiroga Romero.

The mayor indicated that they continue to prioritize the maintenance of main roads, as part of a plan that also includes projects such as the Southern Urban Circuit, which connects Forjadores with Pino Pallas andsoon, the highway to Los Planes.

These types of projects, she explained, will be complemented with traffic regulation measures at other hotspots as resources become available and the required technical processes progress.
