In the last several months, the retail scene in Los Cabos has changed significantly.
New stores – Walmart Cabo San Lucas, Coppel San Jose del Cabo, Woolworth Cabo San Lucas, and Soriana Hiper Tezal – have opened. None of these stores took long to build and open. The latest opening is Soriana Hiper right beside Costco in El Tezal. Like Chedraui Selecto and Fresko, this store was clearly designed to compete with other high-end retailers including Costco and provides one-stop shopping for the many residents of El Tezal, one of the fastest-growing communities in Los Cabos.
Entering through the main doors on the east end of the building on the left is a very large pickup area, which like the store is open 24 hours a day and accessible both from the parking lot and inside. To the right at the front of the store are a whole series of small shops including a shoe store and a barber shop. Entering the main store to the left is a huge Technical Zone that features phones, computers, electronics and appliances. To the right is the Pharmacy with a large selection of health and wellness-related products.
The next area on the left is a home area, which features products for the home and kitchen. Like other large stores in Los Cabos, the aisles are filled with stacks of products with special pricing. On the left across from the home area are all the personal care products including perfumes. The next area of the left provides a wide selection of sheets, towels and other products for the bedroom including mattresses.
Next to it is the hardware area with products for home and auto including a display of tires. At the back of the store on this side is the sporting goods area with bikes and balls for all sports.
Moving along the back of the store in the main aisle, you will encounter the start of all the special areas dedicated to cooking. First, there is a special display featuring all items for your home BBQ and outdoor kitchen followed by the Grill Boutique with all of the different meats that you might want to BBQ. To the right along the whole back half of the store are the regular home, food and beverage product aisles.
The next area along the back is all the fresh meats including a butcher shop where you can order the cut and weight you desire. Next to the butcher is the fish market with a large selection of fresh fish.
The final food area along the back is the Delicatessen with an amazing selection of cheeses and small meats.
The back corner of Soriana is a restaurant with large windows providing a view of Lands End. In addition to the restaurant counter, there is a fresh Sushi bar to order your sushi while you enjoy the view.
Starting back up the west side of the store are a series of additional food areas beginning with Tortilleria and an amazing bakery section.
The bakery offers everything that you can imagine with rows of breads, buns and pastries.
Across from the bakery is a huge area focusing on wine, beer, and spirits with selections from around the world. To the left is the dairy section with all the products you would expect in coolers and freezer cases, including eggs. The final section along the west wall is fresh fruits and vegetables. Across from the Fruits and Vegetables is an outdoor activity display with products for fishing, kayaking and more.
Walking along the front aisle, all the sections to the right focus on clothes, shoes and special products for men, women and children. The final section is several aisles of toys and games for kids. To the left, all along this aisle are the many checkout counters.
The store is a major addition to shopping in Los Cabos.
