Pescado Loco Productions is a Mexican Corporation, Producciones de Peces Locos SAPI de CV. The founders, Ron and Carolyn Kirk, have been trying to make a difference in this Southern Baja California region. "We want to bring musical productions of the highest level to the area and attract artists from out of the area, as well as highlight the best of our local talent," said Carolyn Kirk, whose American background is in the production and promotion of musical concerts in the United States.
"We have assembled a core group of musicians, who are some of the best in Baja Sur, who are versatile enough to play any genre of music. In this way we attract guest vocalists and performers to play with our Pescado Loco Band and deliver the highest quality of music and talent."
Carolyn and Ron Kirk's Pescado Loco Productions also provides all the production services, which include recording and full video capabilities.
Their goal is to provide the very best in musical productions to raise funds for local charities throughout the area. One beneficiary has been our Los Cabos Volunteer Fire Department. The 2nd annual ''Putting Out the Fire'' Carlos Santana Tribute Band concert on Saturday, April 13, earned our local firefighters $50,000 pesos (MXN).
"What we’ve learned after 51 years of marriage, is dedication to each other and to our causes and this in turn has led us here to Cabo," added Carolyn.
During that time, their efforts have raised $340,000 MXN. The ''Putting Out the Fire” concert was their most successful event of all time.
The Pescado Loco Santana Tribute band was led by guitarist Benito Meschoulam, whom spectators exclaimed was on fire! Guests were totally amazed by his performance. "Bad Ass" Benito was joined on stage by Samantha Rae and Richie Talavara as guest vocalists. According to attendees, the combination of Santana sounds and rhythm was hypnotizing. There were over 400 people in attendance.
Benito Meschoulam and his performance, cultivated in his hometown of Encinitas California, marked his first time playing live in Cabo San Lucas. ''It gave me such pleasure to be part of the Pescado Loco Productions event to help the fire department through music,'' said Samantha Rae. ''Ron and Carolyn Kirk are amazing human beings who have been nice enough to allow me to be a part of their vision.''
Carlos Santana and his brother Jorge were born and raised in Mexico, where Carlos developed his musical background, and rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s in the United States. Santana pioneered a fusion of rock and roll and Latin American jazz. Its sound featured his melodic, blues-based lines set against Latin American and African rhythms played on percussion instruments not generally heard in rock, such as timbales and congas.
In 2023, Rolling Stone Magazine named him the 11th greatest guitarist of all time. Carlos and his band have won 10 Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards. In 1998, he was inducted along with his band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
