The Ministry of Tourism and Economy has confirmed, following a meeting with the World Surf League (WSL), that the Cerritos Surf Open will return in November 2026 for its third edition. The meeting focused on strengthening the tournament’s continuity and advancing its organization, as the event is considered key to positioning the region within the professional surfing circuit.
During the meeting, Maribel Collins, head of the Baja California Sur Tourism Secretariat (SETUE), highlighted the importance of the announcement for the state’s standing in both the sports and tourism sectors. She noted that collaboration with the WSL will help develop strategies to maximize the tournament’s overall impact.

“Events of this magnitude project the image of our destination globally, boost economic activity and hotel occupancy, and promote our attractions,” Collins said. She added that the tournament’s continued presence will strengthen tourism and benefit nearby communities, including Pescadero, Cerritos, and Todos Santos.
Authorities and industry representatives reviewed key points to ensure a successful event. Topics included logistics, promotional campaigns, transportation routes, and inter-agency coordination, all aimed at improving operational quality and solidifying Baja California Sur’s reputation as a national and international surfing hub.
Officials also emphasized that advance planning will be essential to enhancing the experience for competitors, visitors, and media, potentially leading to greater global exposure and sustained growth in sports tourism.
