Historic Baja Hotel Closing for Good

The world famous Hotel Serenidad in Mulege, north of Loreto on the Sea of Cortes, is closing its doors at the end of April. Built in 1961 as a Fly-In hotel with its 4,000-foot landing strip, it became famous with small planes pilots who came down to fish and enjoy its famous Pig Roast dinner on Saturdays.

It remained among the favorites for Baja road travelers until this day. Located between the Mulege river and the lush low areas of the sierra, it is an enchanting, romantic, relaxing Mexican hotel. Hopefully someone will bring it back to life soon. Sob, sob.
