Lots of Whale Sharks Spotted in La Paz

The whale shark season officially begins in November and at this time of the year over 30 of the huge fishies have been seen in La Paz. Boat tour operators have scanned over 40 miles of water where the whale sharks usually gather and they think there might be more. The whale shark holds many records for size in the animal kingdom, most notably being by far the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate, with the largest confirmed individual measuring 18.8 meters (nearly 62 feet).
