New public transportation units equipped with automated ramps and Braille signage have been added to the Ruta del Desierto fleet as part of efforts to improve accessibility in the municipality.
During the presentation, municipal authorities stated that these units aim to facilitate the transportation of people with disabilities and reduce physical barriers in the transportation service.
The director of IMDIS (Municipal Institute for the Development and Inclusion of People with Disabilities), Fernando Altamirano, indicated that mobility is key to accessing rights such as education, employment, and health, and that having adapted transportation allows for greater social integration.
For his part, the municipal director of Transportation, Flavio Amador, emphasized the need to continue modernizing the service, prioritizing user service and inclusion.
As part of the process, transportation operators began technical training provided by Volvo specialists, focusing on the proper use of accessibility systems and on operating the new vehicles.
In addition, coordination with Public Safety and Municipal Transit is planned to strengthen actions related to safe mobility.
With these measures, the Los Cabos City Council seeks to move toward a public transportation system with greater accessibility and higher quality service.
