Los Cabos to Launch Comprehensive Pothole Repair and Resurfacing Program on Highway

The Los Cabos City Council will launch a major pothole repair and resurfacing program along the Transpeninsular Highway beginning in mid-January. The initiative aims to improve traffic flow and strengthen the municipality’s road infrastructure.

Christopher Enríquez, Director General of Public Works for the XV City Council of Los Cabos, said the program will complement the municipality’s ongoing “Pothole Hunt” campaign, which continues to operate on roads throughout the region.

The highway work will cover sections in both Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo and will be carried out through coordinated efforts among the Los Cabos City Council, the Fund for Social Works and Infrastructure (FOIS), and the Government of Baja California Sur.

According to Enríquez, the pothole repair program will resume on January 12, alongside the new resurfacing efforts on the Transpeninsular Highway. The partnership between municipal and state authorities will allow for the rehabilitation of key stretches of this vital roadway.

“This agreement enables us to address long-standing road damage on one of the municipality’s most important transportation routes,” Enríquez said. Most of the resurfacing work will be performed at night and during non-peak traffic hours to minimize disruption.
