Hospitals Program Expansion to Improve Health Outcomes

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced Tuesday that by December 31, 2025, 31 new hospitals and nearly 260 operating rooms will be operational nationwide as part of a public health infrastructure expansion and modernization plan involving investments of over 90 billion pesos.

“Between October 1 of this year and December 31, 2025, 51 hospitals will be inaugurated: 31 completely new ones and 20 more that will begin construction during this period, in addition to 12 IMSS health centers or family medicine units,” the president stated at her daily press conference at the National Palace.

She explained that around 50 billion pesos will be invested in the 31 new hospitals alone, while the other 20 will cost nearly 40 billion pesos. Operating room renovations account for another 2.5 billion pesos.
