The Los Cabos Water Supply Agency is Working on Surveying More Wells

CONAGUA (National Water Commission) will allow the municipality of Los Cabos to obtain more than one million cubic meters (2,641,722 gallons) of water annually through extraction wells.

OOMSAPAS (Municipal Operating Agency for the Drinking Water, Sewerage, and Sanitation System), headed by Ramón Rubio, has already announced that it will allow at least five more wells to extract the vital liquid and increase the volume of water delivered to the population, primarily to Cabo San Lucas.

The operating agency has sought the best sites to carry out this extraction. Once the exploration phase is complete, the process to formalize the wells can begin.

This is contrary to the situation in the city of La Paz, where the tanker industry reported that the local OOMSAPAS limited access to already authorized wells, in addition to a significant increase in the price of the product and an alleged granting of concessions to the private sector.

It is worth remembering that since 2022, the state Ministry of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Agricultural Development has indicated that BCS is the entity with the greatest water stress in the country due to low rainfall, climate, population growth, and increased tourism development, among other causes.
