Light Aircraft Crashes in La Ventana, BCS

Passengers were quickly rescued

A small passenger aircraft crashed aa few hours ago off the coast of the communities of La Ventana and El Sargento, southeast of La Paz as informed by The Subsecretaría de ProtecciónCivil which is responsible for developing and executing strategies to protect the lives, health, and property of residents of Baja California Sur against natural and human-caused disasters.

According to information provided by the agency, the aircraft was located at sea and its crew, a man and a woman, were rescued alive. They were pilot Mike McDonald and passenger Erika Ríos, who were contacted and confirmed that they were “in the water, but safe,” after their plane crashed.

The accident occurred near the sea and prompted the mobilization of emergency personnel. The cause of the accident has not yet been released.
