At a prestigious ceremony held in Mexico City, the Tourism Secretariat celebrated the recognition and distinction of 45 charming small towns across Mexico as “Magical Towns.” This prestigious title grants these towns the opportunity to secure additional funding, enabling them to enhance the aesthetic appeal of their downtown areas and benefit from increased promotional activities. As a result, these towns are expected to witness a significant surge in tourist revenue, with projected growth estimated at around 8 percent.
Baja California Sur, renowned for its captivating destinations such as Todos Santos and Loreto, has now welcomed another gem into its midst. Santa Rosalia, affectionately known as “the French corner,” has proudly joined the esteemed group of Magical Towns. Steeped in history, this former mining town showcases a remarkable architectural marvel—a stunning church designed by none other than Gustav Eiffel himself. Remarkably, the church was transported from France to Santa Rosalia by ship, meticulously assembled on-site, and stands today as a testament to the town’s rich cultural heritage.
