Los Cabos has positioned itself as one of the finest gastronomic destinations in the country, where the best cuisine comes together offering high-quality events that position the city at the very top. Consequently, Los Cabos Rotary Club, A.C. in partnership with Los Cabos Hotels Association, A.C. is proudly organizing the 6th Paella Festival 2023. It will take place on Saturday, May 20 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort Hotel.
The Paella Festival seeks to encourage healthy competition among the 15 participating hotels where the chefs will try to create the best paella and showcase their knowledge and creativity. There will be a qualifying jury made up of foodies and chefs from both capes who will vote for their favorite paella, based on several quantitative metrics in order to find this year’s winner.
All guests will be able to enjoy a culinary experience with a variety of paella recipes in a familiar environment that includes live music. The cost will be $1,000 pesos per person and will include, in addition to the fifteen paella tastings, three glasses of wine and a tequila tasting for each attendee. Quite a feast!
The main objective is to raise funds for the local scholarship program of the Los Cabos Rotary Club, which currently benefits 22 underprivileged youngsters that have been co-sponsored by the sister Rotary Club in Canmore, Alberta, Canada since 2007. This program of scholarships has helped these young kids, who have stood out for their academic excellence, for the past 15+ years, from elementary school to college. The Rotary Club shares that this year one of its star scholarship recipients was accepted to study in Belgium in the Rotary exchange program.
There was a press conference held on April 17th, where spokespersons from the participating hotels, chefs, sponsors and the organizing team were present.
“We as a city council are proud to have these types of activities because we know that beyond the fact that Los Cabos is merely touristic, the origin of these events is to help more and more boys and girls who will be benefited, which is something we look forward to as council,” said Irlanda Fisher, Public Relations Department of Los Cabos City Hall representing Óscar Leggs, Mayor of Los Cabos.
Jorge Annibal Amador, on behalf of Donna Jeffries, Tourism Director of the city of Los Cabos said, “This is a community exercise to promote the education and development of our young talents. We firmly believe that education is the foundation for building a prosperousand enriching future for our community and for the world in general.”
“As a Hotels Association, we have not hesitated for a second to join since the Rotary Club invited us, whom I congratulate for having this type of action for the benefit of students. This event is a win-win for everyone. It is an example of the healthy competition that is generated between hotels. If I remember correctly, at the 1st festival we started with eight hotels and now we are fifteen. We are very eager to know who the winner will be this year,” stated Lilzi Orci, executive president of the Los Cabos Hotels Association.
Don’t miss out on the tastiest event of the year and support a noble cause! Tickets are already on sale through the Facebook page of Los Cabos Rotary Club and at Anchor Storage (near the airport), at the Wine Market (Pioneros Plaza), FINCAMEX (next to Colinas Plus), Cabo Liquor & Wines (downtown), Rodas Developers (downtown), Grupo CG (main highway) and the Hotels Association (Providencia Plaza).
