Our Southern Baja State Gets the Most Foreign Investment

In six months, from January to September this year, our state received $540.6 million USD in foreign investment in tourism related businesses and properties. Just in the third quarter of this year, the amount ended up in $309.2 million. According to Mexico’s tourism ministry, it represents a 217.9 percent increase over the first six months on last year. This is also the highest investment in the tourism sector of Mexico, representing 36.3 percent of the total. We are followed by the state of Guerrero (think Acapulco and Ixtapa), Nuevo Leon in the north, Sinaloa (think Mazatlan) and Quintana Roo (Cancun and the Mayan Riviera).
