La Paz Property Tax Discount: 40% Off Penalties Until July 31

La Paz Property Tax Discount: 40% Off Penalties Until July 31 La Paz Property Tax Discount: 40% Off Penalties Until July 31

Property owners in La Paz have until July 31 to take advantage of a 40% discount on penalties and interest tied to overdue property tax. The discount applies to full payments made in a single transaction during July, and the rate will drop to 35% in August.

The program is designed to help families catch up on unpaid property taxes without carrying the full burden of accumulated charges. For expat and foreign homeowners who may not follow Spanish-language municipal announcements, the deadline is worth noting—especially since La Paz has run similar discount programs earlier this year that many residents missed.

Who Qualifies and How to Pay

The 40% discount is available to anyone with an outstanding property tax balance, but only if the full amount is paid before July 31. Partial payments do not qualify, and the discount applies only to penalties and interest—not the base tax amount itself.

According to municipal officials, payments can be made at several locations around La Paz, including City Hall, the municipal water department OOMSAPAS, the state finance center, and shopping centers like Plaza Galerías and Plaza del Sur. Payments are also accepted at municipal markets and the transit office.

For residents who prefer to avoid lines, online payment options are available through the city’s official website and the La Paz mobile app. Municipal treasurer Jassiel Enríquez Varela emphasized that the online system allows property owners to complete the transaction securely without leaving home.

What Happens After July

The discount rate will decrease to 35% in August, and officials have not announced how long the program will continue after that. Past discount programs in La Paz have varied in duration and terms, so property owners looking to maximize savings should plan to settle balances before the end of this month.

For homeowners who have been putting off property tax payments due to mounting penalties, this is one of the most generous discount periods offered by the municipality this year. The city is encouraging residents to take advantage of the program while the highest discount level is still in effect.

More information is available on the city’s official website at www.lapaz.gob.mx or through the Visor Urbano property portal.
