“MejorAire” (Better Air) campaign was launched to monitor and reduce pollution in La Paz. It is designed to monitor, prevent, and reduce pollutants such as ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and PM10 and PM2.5 particles. The program includes studies, regulations, and strategies focused on reducing emissions, environmental education, and collaboration between different departments to improve air quality in the municipality.
The program is structured into five chapters: the first addresses the geographic and socioeconomic conditions of the municipality; the second details the regulatory framework related to emissions regulation; the third presents official air quality studies and the monitoring systems used; the fourth analyzes the relationship between climate change and air quality; and the fifth proposes concrete strategies for emissions management.
The program’s four main strategies were also presented: reducing emissions from mobile sources, reducing emissions from area sources, environmental communication and education actions, and inter-institutional collaboration. All are aligned with municipal efforts to ensure a healthy environment for citizens.
There is still no information on what strategies they will use for efficient measurement. As soon as we know, we will inform you, so stay tuned.
