Busy Semester for Cabo San Lucas Firefighters

Between January 1 and June 30, 2025, the Cabo San Lucas Fire and Rescue Department responded to 2,206 emergency calls across its operational area, which extends from El Tule to Elías Calles, including the municipal delegation and surrounding rural communities.

This marks a 16.8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Of the total calls, ambulance services accounted for 1,059, with traffic accidents leading the reports. Fire crews also responded to 448 fires, including residential, forest, trash, and small-scale incidents.

The department handled 291 traffic accidents, involving rollovers, off-road incidents, pedestrian strikes, motorcycle crashes, and vehicle collisions. Animal-related rescues totaled 57, covering both domestic pets and wildlife.

To meet growing demand, the department has expanded its fleet, adding patrol units, a pickup truck, an ATV, a personnel transport vehicle, and a new ambulance during the first half of the year.

The department now operates four strategically located dispatch centers:

The central station downtown, across from McDonald’s

A substation in Lomas del Sol

An emergency dispatch module in Cabo del Sol

A unit in El Tezal

Officials say these facilities have improved emergency response times across the region.
