In response to complaints filed through the La Paz App regarding blocked beach access, Municipal Comptroller Pavel Castro reported that three obstructions were removed from La Paz beaches. These actions were coordinated with the executive office of Municipal Public Services and ZOFEMAT (Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone) La Paz, among other City Council departments, with the primary objective of restoring unimpeded beach access.
Castro Ríos explained that “The Municipal Comptroller’s Office followed up on citizen complaints and reports so that each public servant, within their powers and functions, could carry out this task. With this activity, we continue the public policy implemented in the municipality to have free beaches without blockages.”
He also noted that in El Pescadero, access points were blocked with rocks and other objects, while in Cerritos, a toll booth that was intended to charge for access to the beach was removed, as it had been installed without a building permit.
These actions are part of the second stage of the beach access restoration process, which includes the inspection, notification, and possible demolition of illegal constructions that impede free movement.
Finally, it was specified that the landowners blocking access have been previously notified, and if they do not possess permits, the corresponding sanctions will be imposed.
