Doctor Simi is now Also a Vet

The veterinary market in Mexico is expanding.

According to an analysis by Mordor Intelligence, this sector is valued at $1.17 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $1.59 billion by 2029, with an annual growth rate of 6.39%. It generates over $1 billion annually in Mexico.

Farmacias Similares, the leading Mexican chain of generic drugs and health products, has launched a pilot program for what could become its new business model: “SimiPet Care” veterinary clinics.

Founded in 1997 by Víctor González Torres, Farmacias Similares has established itself as one of the most recognized chains in Mexico.

With more than 9,500 branches, it creates over 80,000 direct and indirect jobs and is known for offering generic drugs at affordable prices and low-cost medical services through its affiliated clinics.

With SimiPet Care, the company seeks to diversify its portfolio and capitalize on the growing pet care market, providing an affordable veterinary service that could transform the way millions of Mexicans care for their pets.

Although the project is still in the pilot phase, public expectations are high, and if successful, it could signal a new chapter in the history of the Dr. Simi brand.
