The 31st International Water Rescue Seminar will take place from May 13th to 17th, organized by the Cabo San Lucas Fire and Rescue Department, featuring instructors from the Surf Lifesaving del Sur group and supported by the 15th Los Cabos City Council through the Municipal Coordination with the ZOFEMAT (Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone).
The water rescue seminar in Los Cabos is based on the need to train professional lifeguards for this tourist destination, with a tradition spanning over 20 years.
The seminar was initially organized by the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department, with Sgt. Gabriel García as its pioneer. Currently, the seminar is carried on by Michelle García, Gabriel García’s daughter.
This seminar has established itself as an annual tradition, attracting participants from various sectors, including hotels, maritime institutions, and private lifeguards from resorts. Registration is open through the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department.
Those interested in participating must be able to swim, be in good physical condition, have an interest in the sea, be at least 18 years old, and have a willingness to learn and train as professional lifeguards.
Practice sessions will occur at Palmilla, El Médano, Dreams, and the old cannery beaches, along with a drill at Playa del Amor and Playa El Divorcionext Saturday, May 17.
