Preserving local culture and traditions

Buying local products is important as it strengthens the local economy, supports community businesses and jobs, and can reduce the environmental impact of transportation and packaging. It also often leads to fresher, higher-quality goods and services.

A total of 1,032 regional products now have the official “Made in BCS” badge, allowing them to strengthen their growth, development, and consolidation in the domestic market, as announced by Antonieta Meza, head of the Business Development Department of the Economy Ministry.

She noted that 132 South Californian producers are registered to use this trademark with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, which is, in turn, owned by the State Government. This gives them a state identity, consolidating their position in the best national and international commercial showcases.

“’Made in BCS’” seeks to recognize what is produced in the state, promote a sense of belonging and local consumption, and foster continuous improvement for the development of a culture of quality, competitiveness, and productivity, which undoubtedly boosts the regional economy,” she stated. It also guarantees quality and added value to consumers, generating loyalty to the local brand and expanding its sales and distribution channels by encouraging participation in commercial campaigns and exclusive events for those who hold the badge, she added.

Some of the products that carry this brand include damiana liqueur, wines from the Comondú region, seafood from the North Pacific Zone, regional sweets, honey, and other processed products to reach regional, national, and international markets.

The invitation is for local entrepreneurs and producers to visit https://setuesbcs.gob.mx/marca-hecho-en-bcs/ to learn about the different options available to qualify for this official certification and reap the benefits of having a registered trademark.
