Theater has always been an integral part of cultural expression, providing a platform for people to come together and experience the magic of live performance. From ancient Greece to modern-day Broadway, theater has been an art form that has captivated audiences for centuries.
Mexico is a country known for its rich cultural heritage, and one of the best ways to experience it is through the performing arts. The country boasts a thriving theater scene, with many venues showcasing local talent and international productions. Cabo couldn’t be left out, so one such venue is the cozy Faustina Entertainment Club, located in Plaza Santa Carmela in the beautiful city of Cabo San Lucas.
This entertainment club holds 230 people and its style is inspired by the roaring 1920s with art-deco reminiscences. It caters to private events such as weddings, product launches, meetings, exhibitions, music events and shows. It is a relatively new addition to the city’s cultural landscape, having opened its doors in November 2021. But despite its young age, the theater has quickly become a beloved fixture in the community, attracting both locals and tourists with its diverse programming and unique atmosphere.
On the last Friday of March, Faustina opened its doors to Teatro Magazo, a triumphant combination of music, dance, story-telling, and grand illusion. The family show featured the international award-winning magic of Sterling. The charismatic magician has spent his life entertaining audiences, offering a range of performances from traditional dance music, card tricks and illusions with hoops, to modern theater and circus acts, leaving everyone asking themselves what just happened.
Another highlight of the theater’s program is its circus acts. Teatro Magazo boasts a spectacular acrobatic show, featuring an equally talented and beautiful performer called Jai, an aerial hoop dancer and Sterling’s sidekick performing stunts onstage. Kudos on the sword show! She combines traditional circus skills with modern choreography and music.
There is also Kaylee, a makeup artist, and Sterling’s wife, characterized as La Catrina from the Mexican Day of the Dead. It is impressive how it has been said that it takes nearly three hours to do her full makeup.
Then there is Ramón, an acrobat and circus performer who incorporates vaudeville-style acrobatics and modern techniques to create a one-of-a-kind performance, almost merging himself with a giant hoop.
Last, but not least, is Yunni the contortionist. She is quite the expert in the twisting and bending of her limbs and spine. Not for the faint of heart. Don’t try this at home!
Overall, Teatro Magazo is a testament to having a good time, providing us with a different entertainment alternative than the stereotypical wining and dining options seen in town. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, a lover of traditional culture or modern expression, a 99-year old or a fifth grader, this show is a must-see destination in Cabo San Lucas.
Starting March 31st, there will be shows every Friday beginning at 6 p.m., where food, drinks and a pre-show takes place. Here, Sterling warms up the guests by showcasing some cool card tricks. At 7:30 p.m., they usher you to your seats at the main stage show which starts at 8 p.m. sharp and continues until 9:30 p.m. After that, you can chill at the bar of Faustina sipping delicious cocktails.
As of now, Teatro Magazo only offers shows in English, making it very easy for all expats living in Cabo. For future dates they will try to add shows in Spanish for local audiences to attend and enjoy.

Directions: From San Jose del Cabo you need to drive towards Cabo San Lucas on the main highway, pass “Cabo del Sol” and take the first turn off to the right. Faustina will be located in the first plaza to your right.
From Cabo San Lucas you need to drive towards San Jose del Cabo on the main highway and turn into the right side off-ramp near “Punta Ballena”. After you pass that, take the bridge overpass, crossing the highway and turn left towards Cabo San Lucas. Faustina will be located in the first plaza on your right.
