New Minimum Wages Approved

Mexico’s National Commission of Minimum Wages approved President’s Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (known as AMLO) proposal for a 15 percent increase to minimum wages. They went up from 123.22 (about $6 USD a day) to $6.90 a day and $10.58 US in the northern border towns. The increase sent Mexico up 8 positions in the international labor market, placing our country in the 76th position among 135 countries. Inflation in November was only 3.33 percent. AMLO’s administration aims to get to the top 60 countries before the end of his tenure in 2024.
