The La Paz City Council has reopened a public access point to the beach in the community of El Pescadero after receiving citizen reports through the official “App La Paz” platform. The action took place Wednesday, December 10, on a road within the Plutarco Elías Calles Ejido.
Acting on the order of the municipal comptrbeacholler and in coordination with the General Directorate of Comprehensive City Management, city personnel from the Directorate of Mobility and Public Spaces removed a gate that had been blocking access to the coastal area known as Los Cerritos.
Prior to the intervention, municipal technicians conducted physical inspections and cartographic reviews confirming that the road is public and legally authorized for access. Based on those findings, and in compliance with urban development and public road use regulations, any closure or restriction imposed by private individuals was declared illegal.
Municipal Public Services assisted in dismantling the structures, cleaning the site, and restoring the area for public use, ensuring full access to the coastline.
With this action, the administration led by Mayor Milena Quiroga reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the public’s right to free access to all beaches within the municipality.
According to the municipal comptroller, the operation is part of the “Beach Liberation 2.0” program. Residents are encouraged to continue using the “La Paz App” to report any closed roads, access points, or other obstructions that limit access to beach areas.
