  1. In regards to the story regarding Mexico’s Supreme Court protection of airport taxis by blocking Uber access:

    Here’s what they are protecting – a corrupt taxi industry that in many ways still operates in the decades old model of scamming the very people that help raise the financial well being of tens of millions Mexican citizens. Right off the plane, first interactions and impressions for many tourists and business professionals are often that of a banana republic that will fleece them at any opportunity. This may seem harsh, but at La Paz airport’s “official taxi” desk last week my brother was asked for $10 more… after confirming the cost of the fare. It was not confusion, it was straight up, in your face, screw you tourist money demanded by the very person and service supposedly created to rectify airport taxis scams.
