In a show of international cooperation, the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department has received a fully equipped firefighting vehicle donated by the North Las Vegas Fire Department in Nevada. The donation was made possible through the Firefighter Association, Latino Firefighters Liaison, led by Chief Joseph Troncoso.
North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown officiated the handover ceremony, joined by Fire Chief Joseph Calhoun and Councilmembers Isaac Barron, Scott Black, Richard Cherchio, and Ruth Garcia-Anderson. Representatives from the city’s logistics, public education, and communications divisions also attended.
Commander General Juan Antonio Carbajal, Captain Freddy Márquez, and logistics officer Norberto López-Cinco represented the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department. As a gesture of appreciation, they presented plaques and distinctions to the North Las Vegas officials and firefighters, recognizing their generosity and commitment to international cooperation.
The donated vehicle, a Pierce Spartan firefighting unit, is equipped with a high-capacity pump, a 60-foot telescopic ladder, and storage compartments for rescue tools, firefighting gear, and first aid supplies. Commander Carbajal thanked Chief Troncoso and the Latino Firefighters Liaison for making the donation possible, noting that the addition will strengthen Cabo San Lucas’s emergency response capabilities and enhance public safety for residents.
The new truck is expected to enter service before the end of the year, pending its transfer and official registration with the Municipality of Los Cabos. The donation underscores the department’s ongoing dedication to community protection and cross-border collaboration.
