The festivities to celebrate the 490th anniversary of La Paz’s foundation continue. On May 17th and 18th, there will be Mexican rock bands performing in the “Parque Revolucion,” located at Felix Ortega and Antonio Rosales streets, a couple of blocks from Baja Ferries’ offices. (see map)

From 34 candidates, only eight bands were selected based on their original music, previous performances, recent publications, and careers.
The genres include metal, alternative, grunge, ska, reggae, indie, classical, punk, progressive, and surf.
Mexican rock bands are generally considered good and influential, both within Mexico and internationally.
The genre has evolved significantly over time, incorporating various styles and influences, and has produced numerous successful and beloved artists.
Mexican rock encompasses a wide range of subgenres, from traditional rock and roll to alternative rock, heavy metal, and fusion styles that blend rock with Latin rhythms. The genre continues to evolve, with new bands emerging and pushing the boundaries of what is considered Mexican rock.
The event promises to be a vibrant, music-filled celebration, highlighting both local and national talent.
The Director of Culture invites the community to attend the festival and enjoy two days of music and entertainment, as this event is an opportunity to celebrate La Paz’s anniversary and support the local bands that have worked hard to be selected. The performance is free entry.
