Beach Alert! Los Cabos Tourists Urged To Be Cautious On Nearly All Beaches

Pay attention to the color of the flags on the beaches

Ocean tides are unpredictable, and they don’t care whether it is vacation period or not. The conditions change every day.

Flags on the beaches warn you about the conditions, and in the last couple of days, several beaches, especially on the East Cape, had red flags, which means that it was unsafe to swim because of the groundswell.

There are rescue teams assigned to all beaches, and authorities encourage the people to follow their instructions.

Beach warning flags use color-coded systems to alert swimmers and beachgoers about potential hazards in the water. Generally, a green flag indicates calm conditions and safe swimming, a yellow flag warns of moderate surf and/or currents, prompting caution, and a red flag signifies high hazard with strong surf and/or currents, advising against swimming. Additionally, white flags indicate the presence of dangerous marine life, mostly jellyfish, and black flags mean the beach is closed to the public.
