During the daily presidential conference, Josefina Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism, pointed out that in terms of tourism, Mexico has a surplus of 21,632 million dollars. In 2024, the country received 86.4 million international visitors, 15.5 percent more than in 2023 and there were 45 million more tourists.
She stated that income to Mexico through tourism was 32,956 million dollars, and that this income has returned to pre-pandemic levels.
The secretary said that the objective in this six-year term is for Mexico to become the fifth most visited place in the world. It is intended to be sustainable, to have innovation and to respect the rights of indigenous people.
She also stated that the aim is to strengthen the tourism sector by diversifying the market, expanding community tourism areas, reorganizing magical towns, as well as consolidating the tour of the Mayan World and expanding the world heritage sites.
