Nearly 292 acres of Ejido land have been acquired by the federal and state governments to build 15,000 new apartments to relocate people living in risk areas.
The buildings will be located near the new IMSS Regional hospital, currently under construction. These apartments are part of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s plan to provide affordable and decent living for young people and those who cannot afford a new home.
A total of USD $560 million has been allocated for the construction which will also include green areas and commercial spaces. Unit are expected to be sold for USD $37,000 and are 600 sq. ft.
Residents Resist Relocation in Cabo San Lucas
In the meantime, families living in risk areas in Cabo San Lucas are refusing to relocate to the 96 new apartments built in the Sierra Vista neighborhood by Brisas del Pacifico. These are only part of the 704 apartments project that the federal government is financing in that area. Sigh.
