During the delivery of 30 new patrol vehicles to the Directorate of Public Safety, Preventive Police, and Municipal Transit, Los Cabos Mayor Christian Agúndez announced that police officers will receive a salary increase and added benefits aimed at improving their working conditions.
Agúndez said authorities cannot expect strong results from law enforcement personnel without providing them with the resources needed to perform their duties effectively.
Salary Increase and Infrastructure Improvements
While the mayor confirmed that officers will receive a pay raise, he did not specify the amount. He said the municipal government will begin the necessary administrative procedures to implement the increase.
The mayor also outlined several public safety projects planned for the municipality, including the expansion of the central command center, the installation of additional video surveillance cameras, a possible upgrade from the C2 to the C4 command center, and the strengthening of the police academy.
Agúndez acknowledged that security remains an area requiring improvement and said the administration’s goal is to enhance working conditions for public safety personnel while modernizing the municipality’s security infrastructure.
“We are considering transitioning from the C2 to the C4 command center, and we are also expanding training and professional development opportunities for our police officers,” Agúndez said. “We hope to begin these initiatives this year while providing residents with greater confidence that we can maintain a more professional work environment and continue delivering better results.”
He added that the police academy will also be strengthened as part of ongoing efforts to further professionalize the force.
