A Road Trip through the Countryside of Miraflores

As part of the extensive agenda of events organized by the municipal government, on July 13th, the Miraflores district will host the first event“Raíces y Rutas: Orígenes de Los Cabos” (Roots and Routes: Origins of Los Cabos). The name speaks for itself.

This is an initiative of the Los Cabos City Council through the Municipal Directorate of Business Development and Liaison. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and seeks to promote the economic, tourism, and cultural development of the municipality’s rural communities.

Miraflores, a small town in Baja California Sur, is part of Cabo del Este. Originally known as Rancho Viejo, the town was founded in the early 1700s.

The event will feature an exhibition and sale of regional products, as well as the participation of producers, artisans, and typical regional cuisine, representing a valuable opportunity to strengthen the local economy. This was announced by the head of the Municipal Directorate of Business Liaison and Development, José Cisneros.

The town has the only saddlery in the state and produces briefcases, belts, bags, sheaths, shoes, handbags, and sandals. Miraflores is also well known for its chorizo.

But that is only the tip of the iceberg; there are so many amazing products that make it worth the trip.

The real charm of Miraflores is its simplicity, honesty, and easy-going ambience, as its existence doesn’t depend on tourism. (Yet.)

“The goal is to strengthen the circular economy. We seek to visit the northern part of the municipality, such as Miraflores, Santiago, and La Ribera, with events that allow visitors to consume what is produced there. In this first edition, we will feature motorcycle and classic vehicle clubs that will tour Miraflores, in addition to sports and cultural activities, so that citizens can enjoy, consume, and contribute to the economic dynamism of the community,” said Cisneros.
