What’s next?
Now that one of the Los Cabos’ peak seasons has ended, the tourism sector representatives are expressing some concerns about how the hurricane season will impact on the destination’s economy, as the numbers in the mentioned season were great when it comes to the assets received and the number of visitors.
However, industry experts point out that after this vacation period, a significant number of flight reservations are expected from the international market, not to mention the reservations that will be made in the coming weeks for the summer.
Rodrigo Esponda, director of FITURCA (the Los Cabos tourism trust), says, “We have the seats already scheduled for the next six months, and we see very positive trends. There is a 13% increase in registered seats from the United States to Los Cabos; a 9% increase in the domestic market; and a 3% increase in Canada.”
Esponda asserts that these figures show a clear preference among both foreign and domestic visitors to visit the Baja California Sur destination.
What now is a priority is to continue working on tourism promotion, but also on maintaining the destination, because there are other national and international destinations competing to maintain their upward trend, and which could have greater resources to do so.
We believe that in the upcoming months we will have a very positive flow. We have to continue focusing on maintaining quality, taking care of the cleanliness of the destination and the city, sothe experience that visitors have will always be positive.
