In Compliance with the National Housing Plan
The rapid population growth in the municipality, driven by people from various states seeking new opportunities, has exacerbated an already significant housing problem in Los Cabos.
Due to the shortage of affordable housing for rent or purchase, many residents are forced to build makeshift homes from cardboard and settle in arroyos, areas that become extremely hazardous during hurricane season, as floodwaters can wash everything into the ocean. This new housing program aims to address these challenges by constructing homes in different phases across various locations in Los Cabos.
Following extensive negotiations regarding land availability, the project, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, is now set to proceed. The Municipal Directorate of Urban Planning will oversee its implementation.
The homes will be built in the Brisas del Pacífico area of Cabo San Lucas, covering a total of 50,281 square meters (12.42 acres). The development, named Fraccionamiento Sierra Vista, will consist of 44 four-story buildings, offering apartments between 50 and 60 square meters (approximately 600 square feet) in size. Each home will include one designated parking space.
The project aims to provide residents with safe and dignified housing, complete with access to essential services. It also seeks to reduce the number of slum settlements in high-risk areas while ensuring that residents have proximity to schools, parks, health centers, supermarkets, and public transportation.
A key aspect of the development is its commitment to sustainability, with 38% of the total area designated for green spaces.
