The CANACO (National Chamber of Commerce) in Los Cabos points out that while business robberies have not significantly increased compared to previous years, the presence of criminal groups has forced some small establishments to reduce their operating hours due to ongoing security concerns.
Ignacio Labandeira, vice president of Canaco Los Cabos, reported that the activity of these groups has generated concern among merchants, impacting the normal operations of businesses. Despite these challenges, the most recent update from the SESNSP (Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System) reports a decrease of 17.4% in cases of business robbery in Baja California Sur during 2024.
Nevertheless, Los Cabos remains a safe destination for visiting, living, and conducting business. According to recent federal government data, Cabo ranks as the fourth safest city in Mexico, and Baja California Sur is the third safest state with the lowest crime rate in the country.
