Los Cabos Has a New Mayor!

Last Sunday, September 29, Christian Agundez became the new Mayor of Los Cabos. He took oath accompanied by Baja California Sur state governor Victor Castro at the main plaza in San Jose del Cabo.

Agundez, an architect, has previously been a Los Cabos councilman and lawmaker in the state congress.

His father, Narciso Agundez, was Los Cabos’ mayor from 1999 to 2002 and governor of our state from 2005 to 2012. He was the one who made the new highway from Cabo to La Paz possible, as well as the Salvatierra hospital in La Paz and several elementary schools.

Young Mayor Agundez is in his early 40s, married, and has three young daughters, one of whom was born just a few weeks before his inauguration.

During his inaugural speech, he promised to have the Urban Development Plan approved within a month and work on water supply, improvements to mobility and public transportation, housing, and to build a new top-of-the-line regional hospital. Stay tuned.
