La Paz Government Frees One Beach. Following a one-year-long legal fight, the La Paz government removed and seized a gate blocking the access to Puerto Mejia beach, located on the northern part of the East Cape. A few weeks later, a judge ordered them to return the gate as it was private property. Later on, a Federal judge ruled that access to the beach should not be blocked as beaches in Mexico are property of the nation and no one can obstruct access to them. The beach is now open to the public. La Paz Mayor, Milena Quiroga, stated that there are 24 other beaches with obstructed access and that her administration will continue to work towards freeing them.
Spain – Los Cabos Flight Cancelled. The Los Cabos Tourism Fund (FITURCA) and Iberojet Airlines have announced the direct flight from Madrid, Spain to Los Cabos will not take place this summer. The reason? “An adjustment to the airlines’ fleet.” Whatever that means. Bummer. Last year, Iberojet flew 10,000 Spanish and European tourists to Los Cabos. The good news is that both entities, Iberojet and FITURCA will continue promoting our tourist destination for 2025 when they expect to return.
