Parade of Homes and Poker Run Invite. The East Cape Guild, which devotes its efforts to offering scholarships to students who meet the criteria, is happy to announce the Parade of Homes and Poker Run on Sunday, December 17 Starting at noon. Following the Tour, there will be a special night planned at Spa, with Dinner, Games and Dancing! Tickets will go on sale this week at Homes and Land Of Baja and also at the Community Market on Saturdays. East Cape Extravaganza Dates Announced. The Rotary Club Los Barriles – East Cape will once again hold the Taste of East Cape extravaganza fundraiser on December 2, to benefit the East Cape Health center. Tables of 8 for the price of $9,000 MXN. Table tickets (only) go on sale November 14 from 10 am & 1 pm, cash only, at the Rotary table outside the Hom es & Land office. Individual tickets will go on sale soon. There will also be a cash bar, music and special entertainment. The participating restaurants are Tiki Bar & Grill, Smokey’s, Navegante, Tio Pablo’s, Trini’s, Amigos Bar, Bay View Bar & Grill, Beans & Rice, Don Roberto Pizzeria, Joe’s Deli, La Casita, La Playa, Mango Bakery, Maria’s and more to join. La Paz Boutique Hotel Under Fire.z The Marea boutique hotel in the El Manglito barrio in La Paz has erected walls to prevent locals access to the beach. Residents and fishermen, who have always enjoyed the beach, are fighting against the hotel’s wall. Beaches in Mexico are constitutionally public and hotels, homes and restaurants with beachfront must pay a federal lease to use it for their guests but only for a few meters. They must leave 20 meters (65.6 feet) from the water line for free access or pay a fine of up to $18,000 USD. Stay tuned.
The Ultimate Trail Run Adventure: The Sea to Sea! We are fast becoming the “go-to” destination for all things adventure! The latest? A 105-kilometer trail run through the National Reserve Sierra de la Laguna. Starting on December 1 in Los Barriles on the Sea of Cortez, up to 500 participants will race for 3 days, finishing on the Pacific side of Baja California Sur, in Todos Santos. PGA Tour Donates Thousands to Local Charity. The DIF, a city government-run charity organization that works with families of low-income and special needs, received a check for $10,000 dollars from the World Wide Technology Championship. The check was delivered by Mexican golfer Sebastian Vazquez. Thank you, PGA Tour!
New Black Widow Species Found in La Paz.Researcher Alejandro Valdez, of the Arachnology Collection Institute (CARCIB) and researchers from the Center of Biology (CIBNOR) have found a new species of Black Widow spider. Mexico is now home to 4 types of the Latrodectus species: Latrodectus mactans, Latrodectus hesperus, Latrodectus geometricus and Latrodectus occidentalis.” Ain’t we proud?
Environmentalist Denounces Water Contamination. Alejandro Olivera, spokesman for the Center for Biological Diversity denounced ocean water contamination in La Paz. He bases his statement on photos and the fact that several boats sank last month due to Hurricane Norma, and four more caught on fire in two of the city marinas.
New Flight from St. Louis Announced.Z It will not start until March, but hey, we are always happy to hear that more Airlines want to bring us more tourists. This new flight will be from Southwest Airlines. It will be non-stop and for sure will bring us lots of Spring Breakers.
