The World’s Richest Fishing Tournament is This Week.The Bisbee’s Black & Blue fishing tournament will take place this year October 24-28, following the Los Cabos Offshore that will take place October 19-22. The Black & Blue base entry fee of $5,000 USD and daily jackpots from $500 to $10,000 make it the world’s richest tourney. Last year, there were three checks handed out exceeding One Million Dollars! Todos Santos Wine Fest Returns.Everyone’s favorite Wine Fest will take place from December 8 to 10 this year in the magical town of Todos Santos. It starts with a Gastronomical Tour in the south of town visiting several restaurants followed by an afterparty at the Guaycura Hotel’s Sky Lounge. On December 9 the north side of town’s restaurants are toured, followed by an afterparty across the street from the Casa Tota hotel. The main event starts Sunday, December 10 at 6 p.m. at the Santa Terra development (think Oystera) at the entrance to town. Stay tuned for ticket sales.
World’s Fastest Fish Tours the Cabo Marina.Several sailfish were seen inside the Cabo San Lucas marina on Thursday morning and one of them was caught on camera by Javi Sanchez from Pisces Sportfishing Fleet. There were 3 or 4 Sailfish that came straight into the Marina. After a few minutes, the Sailfish made their way back out to the bay. Sailfish have been dubbed the world’s fastest fish by National Geographic as they can swim at a speed of up to 70 mph.
New Pedestrian Bridges Coming.Two new pedestrian bridges will be built this year, said Mayor Oscar Leggs yesterday. One will be deployed at Cerro Colorado, in the vicinity of the H+ Hospital. A second one will be built by the Costco store in Cabo San Lucas. The Soriana supermarket store is pitching most of the money for it, as they are building a new store next to Costco. We eagerly look forward to the traffic jams in that area. Sigh.
New Flight to Monterrey Coming!Viva Aerobus has announced that it will resume the Monterrey – Culiacán – La Paz route 4 times a week starting on November 2nd. The industrial city of Monterrey, in Mexico’s Northeast, offers many attractions to visitors, as well as great food, museums and parks.

Hundreds of Baby Turtles Released.A total of 2,300 Olive Ridley baby sea turtles were released Friday by the Los Cabos Sea Turtle Protection Network. “The weather has been perfect and we had 93% hatching of eggs,” said the organization’s spokesman. Only 1 in every 100 sea turtles survive to become adults and they are a protected species in Mexico.
Number of Dry Riverbeds Increased.The Civil Protection agency in La Paz is reporting an increase of almost 200% in the number of arroyos across La Paz, from 23 to 68 total. This will increase the danger in the populated areas where they are located and an additional effort to protect families and properties will be needed when the rain hits the city. True, it doesn’t rain much, but when it rains, it pours, and there are no rain gutters.
Boat Sinks in Comondu.A commercial boat was reported sinking Saturday, and personnel from the Fund for the Protection of Marine Resources attended the call, rescuing all 10 crew members. The boat, “Ana Maria” was on its side halfway submerged in the ocean near Puerto Lopez Mateos. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
