Banamex Bank is Up for Grabs

The Citi Group’s bank in Mexico, citibanamex, has been for sale for a few months, falling into a tug-o-war between Banco Azteca, Banorte, Mifel and Grupo Mexico. Even Mexico’s richest man, Carlos Slim of Telmex and Telcel fame, got his Inbursa bank involved. So far, there are only two companies left on the field, Mexico’s Banca Mifel and Grupo Mexico, a conglomerate owned by Mexican billionaire Germán Larrea. Banamex is Mexico’s fourth largest bank and holds hundreds of real estate Fideicomisos. Is yours one? Stay tuned.
