Major Fire in Rural los Cabos Town

The Palmar (dense palm trees area) in the town of Santiago, about an hour north of San Jose del Cabo caught on fire yesterday, affecting hectares of palm trees and, at last count, 41 homes. Fourteen of the homes are a total loss and residents of Los Cabos are gathering mattresses, clothes, bed linens, water and canned food for the victims. The items can be deposited at the Fire Departments of San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Over 300 people including firemen and women, civil protection, army and navy personnel fought the fire well into the night.
