Found in the mountains of Baja, Bighorns are a prized hunting trophy. Each season, Mexico’s ministry of the environment approves the killing of between 15 and 18 of them in the municipality of Mulege, north of Southern Baja. The cost of the permits goes straight to the owners of the Ejido land (sort of Indian reservations) and it is an important yearly income for them. A hunter pays up to $69,000 USD for each one.
