About the Convention Centers Fiasco

Our investigative reporters have found a very strong possible cause! The bidding to operate the La Paz and Los Cabos International Convention Centers for 15 years was done in secret chambers, manipulated and even includes a clause stating that the names of the bidders should be kept secret for 20 years. Actidea, the company that won the bidding, is owned by Alfredo Alfie. He is the son-in-law of former president Carlos Salinas de Gortari, who also built a housing development in Cabo San Lucas and abandoned it unfinished. Actidea was also the winner of 97 contracts with the federal government, without a bidding process, which is illegal. There you have it. Corruption, the current President of Mexico would say. Sigh.
