Music Fest Comes To Cabo This Week

The first ever Alternative Music Festival will take place this Friday, May 17 from 6 p.m. ‘till midnight, at The Roof Food & Wine, located in the Cabo marina upstairs from La Casa Country.

The fest will feature at least six alt music bands, including the internationally recognized, Mexico City-based LARIFERPOL, a trio that plays mostly Soul, Blues, Jazz and Funk.

Other bands include Dynamic Range Project, Alter Vio, Walksider, Billy Calavera and more.

Don’t know what Alternative Music is? Well, precursors abound from the 1960s and the genre has evolved into various types like Punk, Grunge, Britpop, Indie rock, Spa punk, British ska and several more.

The festival will begin at 5 p.m. for those oldies like me that have to go to bed early. There are VIP seats available for 500 pesos (about $26 bucks), and regular seating for 250 pesos (about $12 bucks). There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos and sashimi available, as well as drinks and wines from their well-stocked bar, at special prices for the attendees.

The bands will play about an hour each. Those who have been to The Roof before will wonder if it’s not a small place for a fest of this type. Victor Cossio, one of the organizers and performers, told us there will be high top tables in the general admission area but if the place starts to get crowded, they will be removed. They actually hope this happens and have built small bars around the terrace so people can place their drinks there. For information lookup Cabo Alternative Music on Facebook. Tickets available at The Roof. Open from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. See you there, folks!
