The 5th Annual Plaza del Pescador Beer Festival, presented by Rock & Brews and sponsored by Baja Brewing Company, Coco Bongo, and Wild Canyon adventure tours, begins on Friday, October 19 at 3 p.m. and rages on in a booze-drinking anniversary that offers more than 25 different brands of specially crafted beer from México and the Los Cabos area, until 1:30 a.m.

The San Jose del Cabo festivities continue on Saturday, October 20, during the same hours. Admission is free.

Aside from the near-endless supply of booze, The Rock & Brews Beer Festival also features live music, art along the plaza, and many delicious dining choices during the traditionally cool evenings. The Beer Fest always attracts a pleasant, happy crowd, that year in and year out, have kept the popularity of the festival growing.

The event has always featured special 14 oz cups (sold separately ) with the official logo embroidered on the drinking mug. With this cup, guests could sample the different types of beers that each stand has to offer, all for one price. While the list of live bands that will be performing was not made available to the press or the public, one can count on there being the same entertaining mix of local bands who jam together a strong classic rock set of world-famous tunes. Other music genres of the past have included jazz, surf, blues, and reggae.

And for that college high school kid in all of us, there will once again be tables for beer pong match-ups of friendly games; playing individually against a friend, or in teams against other couples and ambitious beer-drinking duos.

One of the original founders of this festival, Baja Brewing Company, was founded by Jordan Gardenhire and his father Charlie Gardenhire in 2007. The father-son business team moved to Los Cabos, Mexico from Colorado and opened the Baja Brewery in the town of San Jose del Cabo. The Baja Brewing Company was established as the first brewery in the state of Baja California Sur. A third partner, Robert Kelly, became involved and together the three men and their group of dedicated hard-working employees have managed the three Baja Brewing Company restaurants located in San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas at the Cabo Villas Resort 7th floor rooftop, with stunning panoramic views of Medano Beach, The Arch and CSL Bay.

In December 2014, the company organized "the first craft beer festival in Cabo, bringing in 10 breweries from throughout Mexico. That small festival is the Plaza de Pescadero Beer Fest the Ale-drinking world knows today. The company produces 8 styles of draft beer and 6 styles of bottled beer that are sold throughout Mexico. Draft brands available for regional consumption include Baja Blond, Baja Razz, Escorpion Negro (black scorpion), Peliroja Red (Redhead Red), Peyote Pale Ale, Baja Oatmeal Stout, Cactus Wheat and Mango Wheat.

"I like the little intimate crowd this event brings every year," noted long-time Los Cabos resident and ReMax real estate agent, Marty Ochoa. "It's one of my favorites, because, by mid-October, the hot, humid nights of August and September are finally gone, and a cold cool beer simply tastes perfect.

"We go back every year for the good music, beautiful art, wonderful people, and exotic micro-brewery beers," added bartender Oscar Solis. "I mean, this festival's nice. It really is.
