They should be constantly equipped
Unfortunately, San Jose del Cabo firefighters are not as well-equipped as they should be. Sometimes, they have to use recycled or discarded equipment from other countries, mostly the USA, that doesn’t meet international safety standards because they are old. The equipment needed to provide the 120 firefighters from the municipality’s two fire departments costs 30 million pesos, (1.5 million usd) indicating a lack of investment in adequate equipment.
There is a lot of work to do regarding this, and thankfully, there are some who want to help.
With support from the private sector and foreign organizations, the San Jose Fire Department received equipment valued at over 600,000 pesos (US$30,000).
They noted that this is the first time this equipment, which includes 10 distributors and 85 hoses, has been provided to ensure efficient and safe service to the community. Commander Omar Barreras shared that three fire trucks and three forestry pumps were also received and donated by Grupo Questro, with an investment of 400,000 pesos (20,000 us).
Additionally, the Santa Cruz Fire Department of California delivered a fire extinguisher, and 80 operational uniforms were purchased through the Firefighters’ Board of Trustees. “Historically, this is the first time we’ve seen new hoses on the trucks.
This achievement is the result of joint work between the government, the private sector, and society,” said Barreras
